It seems that my mission these days is to help you waste less time scrolling and more time watching movies that will widen your perspective and that is not something I will complain about! Today, I want to share 3 movies that are hopefully new to you and will totally boggle your brain. I believe that the appeal of art is that it often challenges us and the way we see the world. While it feels good to be validated, there is something so satisfying about being challenged on your perception or taught something new. So today, I want to give you the opportunity to challenge yourselves as well while also being entertained and distracted for a few hours. Here are 3 movies that I think will totally F*ck your mind!

Coherence (2013) Directed by James Ward Byrkit

Coherence is a movie that I stumbled upon after some deep app scrolling a few years ago and it’s one that has stuck with me ever since. I have been seeing more people talk about this online, so you might have seen it, but if not it’s definitely one to move to the top of your list! This movie is a sci-fi with some psycho-thriller elements that is not only mind twisting but also engaging and exciting. It follows a dinner party with eight friends that start to experience some strange shifts after a comet passes through the atmosphere. The sequence of events that occur in this film brought up some curious thoughts for me. Like what would you do if given the chance to jump into a totally new reality? One where you could forget regrets or mistakes?

The Endless (2017) Directed by Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson

Two brothers. A cult. And wtf is going on? There isn’t much to say without ruining the whole experience, but this is a film that will definitely have you concerned, confused, and fully engaged. This is a movie that is full of ambiguity but if you like coming to your own conclusions and making up your own theories, I do think this can be an interesting watch. I especially liked the sort of blending of genres that I personally felt while watching this story unfold. This movie also brings up some thoughts of morality and what it means to make up the rules in your own life.

Bliss (2021) Directed by Mike Cahill

This movie doesn’t have the best ratings, but since when did we care about that here? I found this story to be one that is interesting and full of the mind twists that we love about this particular style of movie. This movie, although a mind fuck, also really speaks to the element of being human. (Something we looovee here on Static Glass) Let’s be real, life sometimes has you feeling out of sorts and all twisted up. At the end of the day we are all searching for that feeling of bliss, but we also know how important it is to have contrasting experiences in life. This movie explores all of that and leaves you questioning your own perspective on the world.

There are plenty of mind benders out there, but these 3 are some that I think bring a unique perspective to ponder on. Life seems, to me, to be the ultimate mystery and one that I seem to keep trying to figure out. What if there is nothing to figure out? Or what if there are a million things to discover? I think both are true and maybe I’ve come to that conclusion from watching movies like this. I hope this list brought you some movies that will bring you a new perspective or at the very least offered up a few hours of entertainment.
