Rachelyn Babin or simply, Rae, considers herself to be a storyteller. She feels like she is meant to be a communicator of expression, but finds that can come out in a multitude of mediums. Writing, however, to her feels like home. Her creative process isn’t methodical as much as it is imaginative and idealistic. Inspiration strikes her through the happenings of life, in which she feels as if she is just an observer meant to project experiences for others to see themselves in. It is in this space that she hopes to bring those explorations forth for those who need it, those just like her.
Backstory.
She was an imaginative kid, who would lose herself in playing make-believe or daydreaming. She often lived in her daydreams; Crafting infinite worlds in her head that she could escape to. Concurrently, she would find that writing was something she could use to express the things she couldn’t say. It hadn’t occurred to her, until later in her adulthood, that perhaps the things she could only express creatively may be worth putting out into the world.
Rae’s fears revolve around being so exposed, but as she looks back to that imaginative kid she knows that little girl’s dream deserves to come true. So in an attempt to appease that child that still lives in her, she’s decided to unlock the door to the secret worlds in her mind. The worlds that she held inside for so long. There are stories, opinions, experiences, and a mix of it all just waiting to come out. To be told and to be transformed into something that lives in this physicality and this is simply, for the time being, the vessel to contain it all.
It is also her hope that these stories can give someone out there a sense of hope or inspiration. It is only through the art and stories of others that she’s survived the dark moments of her life, so in a sense, this is also an attempt to pass it on and maybe show others that there is a way to transport through those black holes.
The basics? Okay, I guess.
Rae is a Chamoru, raised and born in Guam, but now resides in San Francisco, CA. She’s currently 30 years old. As she transitions into her creative endeavors, she works professionally as a personal stylist where she helps others tell their stories through how they present themselves to the world. In the end, storytelling can be done in many ways and she always finds her way into doing that.
“Fun” facts.
Rae is an indoor gardening novice. Well, she claims to be after propagating 8 of her houseplants. She loves collecting hobbies, exploring all things creative, watching movies, and dissecting the lyrics of her favorite songs. Her best friend is her little sister, who you’ll find to be much cooler than her. Also, she doesn’t understand why these bios have to be written in the third person but she’s trying to look professional so give her some credit if this sounds off.
